Liposuction is one of the most versatile and commonly requested cosmetic procedures. With liposuction at Layton Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, patients in Houston, Sugar Land and San Antonio, TX, can enhance their figure by removing unwanted fat.
What is Liposuction?
Liposuction, sometimes simply referred to as lipo, is a cosmetic technique that removes fat from under the skin to provide a more shapely, contoured body. It can be performed on many areas of the body, including the neck, abdomen, buttocks, thighs, legs, ankles, and back. During treatment, fat cells are permanently removed from the body. This means that patients can achieve long-lasting and even permanent results through liposuction, as long as they maintain a healthy diet and exercise habits following their treatment.
How Much Does Liposuction Cost?
The cost of a liposuction treatment can vary depending on the number of areas being treated and the extent of treatment necessary to produce your desired results. During your consultation, Dr. Layton will be able to provide you with a treatment plan that matches your specific needs. At this point, we will be able to provide you with the exact cost of your treatment. We also offer financing services to help make this and other treatments more affordable.
Is Liposuction a Good Option for the Neck?
Liposuction of the neck can help eliminate the appearance of a double chin and rejuvenate the neck area. This is an in-office procedure that takes approximately 30 minutes under local anesthesia, assuming the procedure is done by itself. This can be a good option for a patient who has little to no sagging skin on the neck, but struggles with fat in the area. For patients with some degree of loose or sagging skin, we typically recommend FaceTite™ because it simultaneously removes fat and tightens the skin.
What is the Liposuction Procedure Like?
Liposuction can be performed with either general anesthesia or local anesthesia, depending on your preference and treatment plan. As with all treatments, Dr. Layton tries to use the smallest and least conspicuous incisions possible. Through these incisions, a small metal tube called a cannula will be inserted. The cannula will dislodge and vacuum out fat from the treatment area. Once the desired results are achieved, your treatment will be complete.
How is Recovery After Liposuction?
After a liposuction procedure, pain is usually minimal and patients can expect bruising or swelling for five to seven days following the procedure. We recommend that our patients take Arnica Montana (Vitamin K) two days prior to the procedure as well a few days following the procedure to reduce bruising and swelling. During the first week or two after treatment, patients may need to take time off of work and other normal activities to heal properly. In addition, a compression garment will be worn for up to six weeks.
