Breast Lift in Houston, TXWhat is a Breast Lift?

A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a procedure that tightens, firms, and lifts the breasts. Patients who are satisfied with the size of their breasts but not the shape or position are generally patients that benefit from breast lift surgery. Through body changes due to pregnancy, hormones, weight fluctuation or aging, the breast skin may become stretched, allowing the nipple to fall too low. This can cause a deflated look to the breast because there is too much skin from the neck to the nipple. If the nipple lies below the crease at the bottom of the breast or if you cannot see any breast skin below the areola while standing in front of a mirror, a breast lift is likely the preferred treatment.

How Much Does a Breast Lift Cost?

The cost of a breast lift can range from $8,000 to $13,000 depending on the extent of treatment necessary to produce your desired results, and whether or not you combine your treatment with breast implants. During your consultation, Dr. Layton will be able to provide you with a treatment plan that matches your specific needs. At this point, we will be able to provide you with the exact cost of your treatment. We also offer financing services to help make this and other treatments more affordable.

What is a Breast Lift with Augmentation/Implants?

Some patients have saggy or excessive skin around the breasts and have lost volume in the breasts. A breast lift alone may cause the breast to look smaller because it no longer has all the excess skin. Another common problem is the lack of upper breast fullness—even with a breast lift. All of the breast volume is on the lower portion of the breast and the upper part of the chest is flat. In these cases, a breast augmentation via implants with a breast lift may be the best solution. Combining the two techniques produces perkier breasts that are fuller in size.

Is it Possible to Have a Scarless Breast Lift?

Everyone scars differently so the exact scarring depends on each person. However, Dr. Layton takes care and precision to put the incisions together in a perfect line to minimize scarring. The fine line incision may turn red and become more pronounced during the maturation process, but the goal is for it to fade to nearly undetectable about a year after surgery. For patients who would like to avoid scarring completely, we may recommend BodyTite™. BodyTite™ is a minimally invasive procedure that can be used to produce subtle breast lift results without the surgery and scarring.

What is the Breast Lift Procedure Like?

The breast lift procedure is performed under general anesthesia to ensure the safety and comfort of the patient. The first step in a breast lift is to make incisions in the breasts, which typically involves incisions around the circumference of the areola. Through these incisions, Dr. Layton will remove excess skin and reposition the breast tissue. Then, the position of the nipple and areola can be corrected by placing them at the center of the breasts, resulting in a more natural, youthful appearance. Following the surgery, a wrap or surgical brazier will be placed around the breast, and, depending on each patient’s response to surgery, a drain may or may not be placed.

How is Recovery After a Breast Lift?

After a breast lift, patients can expect an initial downtime of up to two weeks. During this time, patients will likely have to take time off of work and other normal activities in order to heal properly. Patients should be fully recovered from the procedure within two months. Sensation is not usually lost in the areola, but it is always a possibility. Dr. Layton’s goal is to not disturb the nerves that affect sensation to the nipple. The breast lift procedure does not disturb the architecture of the breast, so patients should be able to breastfeed without any issues following their breast lift.
